Wynn Resorts Limited, a Las Vegas based casino organization, has recently made another donation in an effort to return Chinese art back to China.  They have donated a collection of Chinese vases to be displayed in its newest casino on the island located on the Macau Cotai Strip.  These vases have an estimated value of over twelve million dollars, and will be displayed primarily in the lobby areas of the casino and hotel.

They were made somewhere between the 1700’s and 1800’s, and the only other set that could be called similar currently belongs to the British Royal Family.  This newest casino endeavor is slated to open sometime in 2015.   There have been many efforts in the past decades to return some of the more important and significant Chinese artifacts back to their native country, and the Wynn Resorts Limited group has played an important part in this effort with its Macau properties.

Macau Casinos and Tours

We just got back from our yearly trek out to Macau to play at the casinos. The weather was less than what we would have wanted, but it gave us a great excuse to stay in the casinos and in our hotel rooms. We take our own advice and always book ahead, so we had tours lined up just so we could see the sites of Macau when we were taking a break from playing in the casinos.

This year, the tours seemed to be taken up a notch so to speak. Macau, as everyone knows, is flush with cash and it looks like that cash is being used to train not only in hospitality but also in pizzazz. Each year we have gone to Macau, the tours of the local area were probably the most lacking in that Macau feel, the tours were less about showmanship and more about history and seeing the sites. That has obviously changed this year.

Casinos and More

The tours in Macau generally have a more rustic feel to them than that of a 24 hour casino city. This year though, the tour companies have taken it to a whole new level. The tours were more concerned this year with the comfort of their passengers. One year, we went on a tour with no air conditioning. It wasn’t the most pleasant tour. This year, not only was the air conditioner working, it was a brand new vehicle with custom seats made for comfort with lumbar support. It was good to see that some of the money that Macau sees from gambling is making it to the rest of services that support the city. We can definitely recommend going on the excursion tours and rounding out your Macau Casino Vacation with some culture and local flavor.

Asian Gambling

If you are planning a trip to Asia and want a place to kick back and relax, look no further than Macau. This member of the People’s Republic of China boasts more than 30 casinos, all of them featuring the most popular casino games in the world. If you are looking to play Texas Hold ‘Em or Blackjack, you will be able to find them here, as well as more traditional Asian gambling games, like Fan Tan and Sic Bo.

If greyhound racing is more your style, you can place your bets for those as well. Macau’s casinos have even been more popular than those in Las Vegas. Unlike Las Vegas, however, not all the casinos in Macau are open 24 hours. Most of them are, but there are about a half dozen that have certain hours they adhere to.

There’s More Driving Revenue than Casinos in Macau

Friday, February 4th, 2011

There is also a green initiative taking place in Macau that is set to reduce carbon emissions and reduce electricity consumption.  As most businesses, restaurants and casinos are open all night, saving on ac and lighting will save Macau millions each year.

This initiative along with other revenue streams will continue to bring in profits for Macau in 2011.  Also with more Chinese visitors to the luxurious city as well as gamblers from all across the world, the figures should continue to remain high despite first quarter earnings that are seemingly sluggish.  Tourism is expected to rise this year as there are a number of world poker and gambling events scheduled later this year.
